Hello, I am looking at freediving wetsuits for this next season. I was looking at Picasso, Omer, and some others. I live in RI and the water temp here is from the high 50s early spring to high 60s in the summer. This last summer I watch a diver in a camo suit, it was unreal,,,the guy literally disappeared! Question is does it really help with a fish? I am not a biologist but I thought that their vision was limited, and they react more to vibrations? And if thats true why do stripers have such magnificent eyes?

Anyway 5mm two piece,,,camo or not. Any input?

Hi Kevin
from a beginners standpoint [mine], i have found that stripers approached me , or let me approach them based on stealthy movements and lack of noise.
i wear an all black sporasub 2 pc hooded 5 mil suit.
i cant see how a camo suit could hurt, my opinion would be to get what ever makes u feel more confident.

Hi again Kevin
i live in long island NY, my 5 mil suit is excellent for the months of april, may ,june, during july and aug its too much suit to wear. ill be gettina a 3 mil suit ,probably a camo, soon. RI is one of my fav freedive places, ft weatheral,pt judith are awesome.
regards: Sebastian

I'm waiting for a 5mm Elios Camo as we speak. :inlove

To me, I would think that camo would have to be better...especially if one is in structure similar to the camo.

I also believe that it would break up your outline so as to not appear so big.

Just my thoughts...I'll post in the future what my actual results are.

To see you new camo suit with rofl
Seriously, I believe that the camo suit as has previously been pointed out that combined with stealthy movement can help. It will help break up your outline but the key issue is you not transmitting the fact that you are as big as you really are. So I think the more experience you have at spearfishing the more help camo can be.
