Camo paintjob for gun

Im playing around with the idea of doing a camo job on one of my guns and at the same time share the patterns ive been working on with the rest of you. So here they are and Ill be posting pics of how the gun came out. The templates has a slight overlap and done for a 90cm gun but it could be cut shorter. Printed on A0 paper it should come out scale 1:1

I like the idea of the cammo gun but im not too sure about the templates that you have designed. I think although the finished design will look good but will be to regular to provide effective cammoflage. There is a recent post on Spearfishing.com about a gun that has been painted, perhaps you should take a look at it.
Nice idea though.

I have always painted my guns & lots of other bits & pieces, looks like a nice plan you have mate.

My idea is as follows, Ive actually just printed out the templates but Im not sure about the colours yet, I mite go for a range of blues, grey and a bit of green.
Give the gun a iregular base coat to break the black barrel.
Use the small template with the first colour, then second and then third template all in different colours of course. I think that this should break the outlines of the gun quite well...

once your done with your gun , come over for a drink and show it off, if you messed it up ill just have a good luagh,, if it looks good ill just copy you best of both worlds

I was trying some layouts, but ended up picking up a cheap airbrush and painting a few guns freehand with flat model paints. Really just winter boredom and two of the guns needed a coat of paint anyway.

That doesnt look bad im sure stensils arent necesary but it would look good having uniform patterns, but granted it probably wont serve any purpose. But hey as long as we are having fun thats all that matters...

Im adding the last few layers tonight and will post pics tomorrow, I ended up havin to resize the templates in the end and also added quite a few more, 8 layers of paint in total. I used spraypaint held at a distance and sprayed very lightly so as to not have solid outlines from the stensils, Ill also be taking it to the water this weekend to see how it holds when used, I mite have to add a sealant in the end but hey it does look pretty cool at the moment

Ha you wish mate rofl , Ill print you a set of stensils hows that sound. Youll need a nt cutter of some sorts and tape and watch out for yer fingers rofl

Looks good mate you might to spray the barrel with a can of clear lacquer to bring it all together? I have found the acrylic spay aerosol brought from auto accessoires shops works a treat.

yeah the sprayed guns look good but i think there are two valuable lessons to be learned when spraying a gun....

one: always use a primer
two: top it off with a clear clear lacquer to avoid chipping and scratching.

If you spend all that time making it look pretty it might as well stay that way
