Why dont the camo suits have a very light or white color on the under belly much like fish. It would really break up the human body outline. Kinda like WWII airplanes.

There are in fact several different sorts of cammo suits. Most cammo suits are brown/green patches because they are designed to be used by divers who dive down to the bottom and hide in the weed while waiting for fish to come to them. This is the technique called asspetto much loved by the Med boys but also popular throughout europe and the UK. I can confirm that the cammo does make the diver less visible especially with the diver lying in kelp type weed. In this case fish are looking level or even down on the diver.

The other sort of cammo is designed for bluewater hunting, especially in the USA and the tropics. These suita are variations on light blue through to silver. The idea with these suits is that the fish is level or below the diver.

So you are right about the airoplane type cammo it's just done in 2 suits rather than combined in one.

I'm a little new to the seen but love the water and fishing.
I have noticed that red is starting to show up in allot of camo. I think i read that red doesn't show in water? And just watching nature due its thing that the main thing that attracts or repels fish is unusual movement. Now with a fish mostly having eyes on opposites sides of their heads am I right by saying the a fishes depth perception is relatively poor until very close proximity. And with all the colored fish in the ocean I'm guessing the shades are more important than colors.?. Also in nature I have noticed that mostly fast attach fish use camo and little hunting tricks to bring the fish to them but sharks, seals, killer whales etc use speed and devastating bites. So a camo that hides at level and disrupts depth perception would be ideal.?.I should have taken more Biology courses..

Thanks

I like Corals wetsuits camo, reminds me of old battle ships.

Are you referring to the German's Bismark Battle ship Cruiser?

More than just one the crazy black grey and white paint schemes they used in WW2. Just google battle ship camo. I was to throw of the outline and mess with the enemies being able to target the ships. My grandpa ( on the Endeavor) said that it made it difficult to judge distances of the ships when setting timers on torpedo's.

Next time you get in the water, dive down & look up, the surface appears shiny silver!
I have used silver suits & even silver survival blankets as an over suit!
You can of course paint your suit yourself any colour you like.

I like that Foxy, I did wonder about that myself - a mirror finish would reflect your surroundings whatever terrain you're in! Bring on the 'terminator' camorofl

For USN the WWII paint scheme was called "dazzle". There are some really cool schemes.

that would be AWESOME! i would wear it although it might attract every barracuda in the Caribbean if i did. a potential problem but none the less very cool!:t

I would love to see a silver white and light blue front for surface intervals and a red blended pigment with a brown and blue camo pattern for back of the suit for ambush hunting on bottom.

Like a giant bass lure?! Be careful, remember that image Portinfer posted of a kayak painted like giant red-head lure, which seem popular in South Africa? A big shark had bitten the front right off it
