I know this isn't related much to Spearfishing, but on the chance that you have one of these cameras, I thought I'd pass along my experience in case it might save you some trouble and a few bucks.
I took some fish pics on my last dive trip, and when I tried to load them to the computer, I got an indication that the Compact Flash card was corrupted. I managed to salvage the photos by buying a card reader and some photo recovery software, but then when I tried to reformat the card, it didn't work. So I bought a new card, and it wouldn't format or work either.
I was going to just drive 20 miles or so to the Canon Service Center in Irvine, CA, but decided to call tech support first. I was told that it was a known issue with that camera, and Canon would repair it at no cost. I was also told that the Irvine facility only handled the higher end SLR cameras, so I'll have to send it to Elk Grove, IL, but they are emailing me a UPS label so that I won't even have to pay for shipping.
If I had called first, I could have avoided buying that extra card.
I hope this will help someone.
