Nope not really, Soetwater was dirty. But as we where coming back (guns unloaded of course) Adrian swam into 1-2kg Hottie in waist deep water! Needless to say we did'nt get him in such bad viz. I tried to find a kreef or a crab I could use to attract them, but found nothing.
Still I reckon soetwater is moster hottie paradise, we just need a clear day!

from Bogdan in the Ukraine, he makes great fins and the price to get them out here
is not too bad as I order quite a few, ie share freight!

There seems to be quite a few of us wanting to dive this weekend so I hope neptune smiles down on us

this side isnt looking too great, milky green water.....waves are ok tho! and i cant even surf!!!! aaaggghhh

I phoned and sent sms's like most of Friday evening and no one answered or replied anything :head Next time at least let us know when you plan not to join in the end ok...
Anyways you missed out on a real fun dive, myself and Christoff met up at the Rabiteck store and headed to Gordonsbay from there. Deciding that if we dont go look what the water is like we wont know. So we drove through in spite of the stong NW wind and came on a little bay just after Koelbay that looked quite promising as there was a pod of dolphins working and playing in the entrance of the bay and a gannet in the inside. We drove on till Rooiels to go to the shop there and headed back, BTW most of the coast looked diveable allthough there was a swell running in some places. So we headed back to our initial spot we chose kitted up and walked down the hill to the waters edge. Jumped in and I was surprised by 4 to 6m vizibility in some places and the worst, out over the sandy gullies being about 2 to 3m, temps was also nice and comfy. We didnt see any fish, but whats new rite, come to think of it I wonder if the dolphins mite of had anything to do with this? Anyways we spent about an hour and a half or so in the water searching the reefs gullies and doing aspetto on the bottom. I was apparently visited by a seal but didnt see him as I was working on taking a picture of a octopuss, which dissapeared after I came down to take him home, he was dead still while I took the pic though. The reefs are much more alive than atlantic side. Sea anemones and stars and sea urchins being present by the hundreds. In the end I took home a few alikreukels and another unidentified man eating shelfish that attacked me while cruising around the bottom
. I did see a klipvis though rofl. We went for a few beers in harbour island after a flat tyre on our way from the dive site, BAD KARMA rofland that was about that.

Diving wise for the up and coming weekend looks slim, moslty westerly winds which means fishhoek and millers side will be clean, dunno if I wana chance that...
Maybe head out to Kleinmond side early saturday morning, any takers?

That shelfish was lovely, mixed it up with the alikruk and some garlic butter with parsley and chillie pesto, soft like butter hmmmm. Had that with a geelbek I got at the fish vendors in Strand on our way back rofl.

If we dive this weekend itll have to be a morning one again as I have a batchelors Saturday afternoon... Saturday morning dive and Sunday morning Ill spend trying to remember what happened the night before rofl.

Why not have a look at Betty's Bay? Mostly shallow kelp type diving, BUT, usually plenty of fish!! It is a marine reserve, but spearing is allowed. Just be very careful, as the inspectors treat anyone with a wetsuit as a poacher. have taken BIG butterfish, large 2kg+ John browns regularly here. My best galgoen of 3.7kg's was shot here in less than 2m of water. Have seen large white steenbras, PLENTY of young musselcracker, in the 2-5kg class, as well as a 10kg+ Poenskop here!!! Romans and Red stumps are also around, but on the deeper reefs.
Well worth investigating!!

The boards there say only line fishing is allowed...
If not do you have more specifics about the spot your talking about?
Any info would be great...
Also am I correct in assuming the westerleys predicted for the week will clear that area?
