Hi ,

I'm going to make a new speargun from carbon barrel I 'll buy from chinese supplier as a sample for trying ,I want to get more ideas how to balance/ballast the gun as you can't use the technique of wood gun .

thks

It should be pretty balanced in itself, no?
I mean they are thicker in the walls than alu tubes, but then again CF is lighter. So, if the muzzle and handle don't leak, the tube will be buoyant and you should not be too far off.

Even if it is just the circular tubes (no cuttlefish nor gecko shaped barrels) I haven't seen any manufacturers who use that shape add extra buoyancy.
If it is positive, you stick some lead under it. Omer makes some (might be an alloy or steel). Or in the tube, possibly.

Omer/Sporasub and prolly Mares and Cressi, too, are definitely making tons of gear in China now. I would not be surprised if your vendor is a supplier to some of the Italians. Or they are making tubes to the same specs. And as such, I'd be surprised if they don't work pretty much out of the box.

Possibly browse a little to see if any of the manufacturers indicate the wall thickness of their CF guns and then you'll know if you are in the same ballpark.

What about handle, trigger and muzzle? What are you getting? Or are you building wooden parts?

This is prolly banal, but just triple check the dimensions of the barrel to make sure it'll work with your fittings. As said, the wall thickness is likely bigger than alu barrels.
