I just looked on the subprof site and they have Omer Rekord 3 / C4 / Carbontek fins all for the same price.

The later two come as blades and the 0mer as a complete fin with blade and footpockets.

I was hoping to improve my depth over the next year and was thinking that some better fins might help (and Christmas is coming up :))

So what would you recommend out of these three and why ...

I dive shallow at the moment - down to 14m but more generally around 10m / 12m. I mainly spearfish so will be spending time on the bottom - currently dives are about 1:30 / 1:50. My dry statics are about 5mins with the first contractions around 3mins.

I seem to hit the bottom slowly and then when I look at the dive watch it says 20secs / or 30secs - ie a slow rate of descent.

Anyway - I know that diving this deep probably doesn't warrantee expensive brittle carbon fins but it is that season to look into buying kit...

I used Sporasub H Dessault for the first year and this year I have been using Waterway Nemo stiffness #2 blades.

Should I stick with Nemo's and would I be wasting my money on carbons for the depth ?

Previous discussions narrowed it down for me to the C4-25's but recently I have heard good things about the 0mers... And as for the Carbontek, I know nothing about them but have sen them in some spearfishing videos...

the Rekords are an older disontinued fin but Omer has its next generation of cabon fins in the works...should be interesting. I like Omer gear, I think they have the most active developement of the big boys and are constantly getting better. The c4's are pretty badass though:)

Hi Ed,
I have Carbontek 85's and am very pleased with them. So far they are holding up with lots of contact with rocks during aspettos. Apart from the depth, the other issue you should look at is how comfortable ovre several hours in the water. Mine are are a soft to medium stiffness and I've been 6 hours once without any foot fatigue. Johnny and Rafaquatic have stiffer versions and they liked them more than the wide soft ones I have, but then they generally go deeper than I do. Contact them for their opinions.
