Well its finito!!! Finally put together the finshed touches on my latest build http://forums.deeperblue.com/euro-spearguns/82885-cressi-geronimo.html

Gun is 115cm (45")tip -butt
2.5cm (1") high, and tapers from 2cm (3/4") to 4cm (1 3/4")
band to first fin 90cm (36") -5/8 20"
band to second fin 100cm (39") -5/16 21"
made this gun with a basswood
eek.gif
,cumaru core, and padauk
its triad shaped (like the other builds), with a graphite poured enclosed track, Carbon Fiber muzzle and built in line retainer/shark pic.

The "core" wood is basswood very light and soft so in order to prevent any bend in the barrel I wrapped it in carbon fiber, it also has carbon fiber build up at the muzzle allowing me to bring the bands high up, that coupled with the enclosed track virtually has eliminated recoil/shaft whip (lengthy explanation on my blog)...we took out this gun to be christened a few days ago...and can say the babies got MOJO, one thing that was very noticeable was the fierce red glow the padauk wood had in the water, "fire underwater" so to say:martial

Fantastic piece of work setting steel. How did you find cutting the graphite track?
Is it the West Systems epoxy with graphite powder? Looks like a lot of work and innovation on your part, congrats the gun looks great!
Cheers.

Whewww seems like forever since I was last here business finally picking up....thx for the kind words.

Settingsteel, it looks amazing!Very well done.
Could you please tell us how you made the graphite track? Do you think it could apply to open track also or not really?

yes it can the mix is about an 1oz of poxy with 1/4 tsp graphite and 1/2 high strength filler. Once you cut the track sand it and "brush" on the mix with an artist brush, sand with 220 repeat increasing grits to 600., keep in mind that you will build up the track somewhat with each successive layer of graphite.

Tone, I must of missed this first time around!
Looks great but I dont quite understand how you have built the gun, you made a core & completely encased it with a carbon mat & epoxy mix?
Is that additional wood glued to the carbon core?
Did you vacuum the the carbon?

Yep, thats it Fox, the core is basswood/cumaru wrapped in CF, track is poured graphite.
