Hey everyone.

I have developped a horrible sinus problem that leaves me incable of descending even 1m. Heres the history:

4 years ago when I was still an avid diver, I began getting sinus pressure on every descent. It got so bad, like being smashed in the forehead with a hammer, that I had to give up diving completely, which led to a depression for about 4 years, being unable to anywhere near a beach. I have been to ENT specialist, and done a CT scan, but nothing has come up. Ever since, the problem has not gone away.

I need to know what your experience is with this... I have just bought a neti pot, and will be trying this treatment out for a while. Any help would be so very much appreciated. Its been 4 years, and I still can't bear not diving!

My nightmare!

Need a bit more information. Do you have minor allergies? If you fly, do you have any problems then? Any other info that might be pertinent?

This might work if inflammation is the problem, worked for me after my sinuses blocked up during a cold and then would not unblock. Get a doc to prescribe a round of cortisone pills. Mine was about 5-6 days long and he only gave me maybe 3 tiny pills(cut up the last few, as he directed). It was magic. If this works for you and the problem returns later, go looking for some continuing cause, allergy, milk, ?.

Good luck with it.

Connor

I've been through the forehead sinus pain. After seeing three different ENT's and a couple ct scans, It was recommended that I have surgery. I feel much better after an 11mm cyst was removed from my forehead frontal sinus. The benefit of not having a sinus squeeze everytime I dove is just an added bonus. Contact Divers Alert Network and they can recommmend a physician in your area that is aware of your problem.

Hey man whatever it is, it isn't career ending! It seems that more and more, divers sinus problems come right in the end - more often than not! Keep diving, have hope dude : ) good times ahead

Greetings to everyone in the Sinus hammer hit at ascend CLUB :(.. Here is the story :
Since 25 th of June I am diving every day 3+(1/2) - 4 hours alone . Until 6th August when I managed after a lot of effort to find someone to dive with. Thing is he is doing spearfishing so we went spearfishing for 7 hours in water. I was not used to that duration and hadnt done spearfishing for long time. Result was I didn't hear my body signals successfuly (exhaustion) and after the last dive and staying at 20 meters for some time landed the shot but it was bad and I tried get the fish with my hands before it escape free, at surface I had a black-out. Buddy saved me but he told that he can't stand the responsibility to dive with me and that he wouldn't do it again. Thing is that this day at sea was so exhausting that after that I get a feeling in my throat like if u drink a lot of salt water, that you don't have a good feeling of your tongue etc. But it wasn't because of the saltwater because it persisted all these days. And every day I try dive after that is the same story... At ascend all my head and start of the spine is in a lot of pain. Please buddies help me I need dive..
