Hey,
I know this might have been asked recently but I can not find it anywhere on this forum, what would you recommend for a cheap depth gauge that isn't a freediving bouy? Preferably a depth watch, i've only found one capillary depth gauge watch so far Profondimtre capillaire Divers Instrument sous marin de plonge that i might buy but if i can buy a watch with a depth gauge on it for less than $100 i would probably do that.

If you can help that'd be great.
Thank you!
Dan

You might want to look for two watches called
"Diver Master II C87775"
and
"snorkeling master" on ebay:

also check out apnea.cz for price and watch comparison.

dan, I was looking for something like this, but it s hard to find under 100$. Some older dive computers are sold really cheap, like 20-50$, they are not good for freediving (dive time has no seconds, only minutes usually) but work fine as depth gauges. Like Aladin Pro's for example, those usually sold with dead battery which isn't user replacebale, except those cheap smart ass users like me.

Anyways, I settled for Casio SPF 60, it comes up on e-bay 50-100$ used, or there is one brand new right now for 170$. But then, when you are getting closer to 200$ you might be better off just buying proper gear. But then again, Casio is a good wristwatch with all the other stuff like alarm clock, timers etc, even looks good. It has functional bezel (can't live without it) and thats what made me buy it.

That's the Snorkeling Master by Hong Kong's Latitude Co., also known in OEM versions from Ocaris (Dive Time), or slightly modified from Sporasub (SP1), Omer (MIK1), and under plenty of other brands. You can find it on eBay and elsewhere under variety of names for different prices ranging approx from $50 to $250. Have a look at some of the clones in the review of freedving computers here:

APNEA.cz - Ocaris Dive Time

The biggest inconvenience of the watch, besides being low-end product and missing many features of more advanced computers, is the missing indication of the surface time, which is rather important for a freediver or snorkeller. The surface time was only added at the latest Omer MIK1 OEM version.
