Chest Burn during DYN?!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Strange thing...have been using my C4s, and tried using my Cressi Gara 2000s...couldn't do it. I've gotten spoiled by my carbon fibre fins. I had no idea they would feel so good in DYN. So, no...I didn't reach 100m this weekend :(.
It's coming, though.
Cheers!

Nice Billie. I let Jeremy use my carbon fins at the lake a few weeks back and I used his Cressi fins. I was surprised at the difference. The Cressi foot pockets are soft and you don't seem to get the drive out of them. I guess that means Martin was right, a solid fit makes a huge difference. Plus the blade has a lot to do with that too.

i know this might be a bit stale but i thought i would take the chance and ask a few questions....

there was talk about the best depth to swim in the water colum. i was wondering if it would help swimming deep. usung the water pressure to make there size a bit smaller.
i guess you would not notice it unless it was a few meters deeper. but at -3m i am a bit less buoyant, so maybe get a bit more of a glide?

one of the best ways i have seen ppl get past a stopping point is not to use the end walls as a place to come up. always make the turn. even if you can only do 25m just turn every time and then make the decision to come up or not.
i have seen a few ppl use this and swim many 50m with a turn and when they hit 75m they make the turn as thats what they have trained to do, they quickly go on to swimming 101m.
it could be good in comps to as alot of ppl swim 100-125-150 but if you just bust out the turn it could put you in front a few ppl. just an idea.

I agree, this is how i managed to get past the 75mtr mark and progress straight up to 100mtrs. Once i had the courage to turn at 75mtrs and not come up i was suprised how easy it was to finish the last 25mtrs to get to 100.

Since doing this i have been training at 100mtrs and gathering some courage to turn again but this time to 125mtrs. I honestly belive that once i make the turn i will make the 125mtr mark no doubt.

Swimming slightly deeper works for me too, i glide better at the bottom (about 6in to 12in from the bottom) than i do mid water, but if i pack more that 10times i float and need more weight so i tend to keep packing down to a max of 8 times. (i don't see the point in overloading myself with weight)

Nice points on the turns, I'll start giving that a try. I'm on my way to 150 but really trying to avoid blackingout. Thing is I get pretty comfortable on my way to 125 , other that the leg burn. Symptoms of hypoxia are hard to identify especially after staring at the bottom of the pool. I have a safty so I'll figure it out little by little.

Updates are cool. Let us know how it goes.

give it a go. it works for me. its just so easy to give up at a wall! 125 was the hardest to get past as i start getting leg burn arounnd then. but after i went back to turning at 125 i got to 150 on my 4th try. but i did get stuck there for a while;)

Cheers Todd, Ben Noble told me a while ago to keep a diary of everything i do that way i can look back a see what worked and what didn't. So i put it all in my blogspot.

Would love to be in a position to be stuck o 125mtrs SayNO2o2!!!

Cool blog, I've recently started a training diary . I think its to soon to tell me anything but it does keep me on track. Funny it looks alot like yours.

Todd

Todd, I've started keeping a log online. I'm hoping Jeremy will keep his on there too. That way he can see what I've done and call me when I get lazy and same goes the other way. Of course if you don't train your wife will beat you....I'll get you that number for the support group of abused spouses!

Chris
Sometimes I think she wants to beat me alright, once we get to the pool I don't want to leave. Something about the look on her face after shes all packed up, sitting on the edge of the pool just staring at me . I can take a hint though, " just one more set and I'm done".
