I went diving on friday, i hadnt dove in over two months and we went right out to 55ft. well i did maybe 3 warmup divies then started speafishing. well i dove there for maybe 2 hours. after that i went in and dove a 35 foot spot for maybe 45 min. then i went in. well after cleaning and putting up the boat my chest was sore. and it was still sore till sunday. does anybody know what causes this? or is this just normal since i hadnt dove in two months and just jumped right in to 55ft. thanks for the help

Which is sore?

If its the sternum (front of the chest), then its from loading your speargun.

If its the chest walls, ie the muscles in between the ribs, then its because you havent breathed in fully for a while. Breathing up, if done correctly, utilises most or all of your chest capacity. Everyday breathing doesn't, so the rib muscles arent as stretchy if you havent dived in a while.

both. but i dont cock my gun on my chest. i only uncocked it a couple of times on my chest. can the strernum get sore from breathing also? thanks for the info.
