hi im about to buy my first wetsuit and i have been looking into apnea wetsuits for spearfishing and scuba diving. since we dont have any stores that sell apnea wetsuits its kinda hard for me to try them on and see which one that fits me the best. so i have been looking into elios because they make tailormade suits and the one ive been looking into is the 5mm superelastic lining insid, Lycra Camo Blue-green outside with Sheico neoprene. the support guy says its very durable, easy to wear on and off without soap, comfortable, warm and is suitable for spearfishing and scuba diving. comes with pads on chest and knees.

im about 175cm and weigh 68kg, feel free to recommend other suits.

what do you guys think of this suite? costs about 280 Euro.

Elios wetsuits are top quality, very happy with mine.

Only doubt about your specifications is the lining inside: not good for cold water, you'll stay much warmer (in Sweden!!!) with smooth or open cell inside, and eventual fabric outside.

I live in a warmer place than Sweden (Italy) but all my wetsuits (Elios and others) have open cell or smooth neoprene inside.

Best choice for a cold place like Sweden would be open cell inside and smooth outside, with no fabric over the neoprene: it dries up much faster and keep you warmer.

benti suits looks also nice. which open cell suit do u recommend? need it to be warm and suitable for cold and tropical water.

" warm and suitable for cold and tropical water"??? That's asking a bit much. A suit warm enough for Sweden is not going to be suitable for tropical waters, way too hot.

well i understand what ur saying cdavis. at the moment i live in sweden and training indoor freediving. my plans are to move to a more tropical country before newyear. so i gues the suit im looking for is more for tropical use, but will be used here in sweden (mostly indoor pool) before i leave this cold country.

That begins to make sense.

You don't need much suit, if any, in tropical waters, depends on how tropical and what nasties are in the water around you.

You can go with a fabric inside suit, plenty warm enough for tropical and probably for pool practice. 2 mil is plenty. A 3 mil open cell inside is way too warm for most tropical. Don't even think about 5 mil.

I'm skinny and a wimp when it comes to cold. In the Bahamas, I wear a 1 mil hooded shorty in July and August and an old crumy 3/2 surfer suit in late spring and fall, its fine then. A 2 mil freediving suit works fine in spring and fall. In winter a good 3/2 surfer is fine and a 3 mil open cell free diving suit is tolerable.

I'd recommend at least fabric out and both sides is a good idea on a thin suit. Important in many types of warm water/air diving is the ability to get the suit off(at least the upper half) quickly and easily when you get out of the water and get it back on when getting back in.

Have fun looking.

Further thoughts:

I roughly define tropical as about 78 to 85+ degrees F. You might want to check water temps where you plan to go.

Elios makes fantastic suits. I absolutely love my custom 3 mil, astonishingly warm. However, for what I call tropical, you don't need a custom suit, it could actually be a negative, too slow to get off.. Especially if this is your first suit, it might make more sense to buy an off the shelf suit, Elios or other, and see what you really need for your kind of diving, before you spend the extra bucks on custom.
