So guys, its that time of the year when nearest and dearest start asking what presents we want Santa to bring and leave under the tree and naturally for me, I only think of increasing my range of spearing gear!

I am happy with my guns (for a few months anyway), fins (until I get my next student loan) and mask (just bought the technisub micromask on holiday) so I was thinking about getting a weight vest.

Pros
Taking strain off lower back
Hopefully less restriction of diaphragm during breath up

Cons
I made a nice stockpile of Allton D weights that will be now obsolete

I like the look of the one on spearo.co.uk (www.spearo.co.uk/spearo.html) and the Seac vest (Seacsub Vest Caccia Camo. Accessories Belts, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive) but the Seac one looks as though there is too much neoprene for my liking.

Anyone else have any input on chest weights and how the affected peoples diving, wither for the better or for the worse!?

Cheers all!

One of the best bits of kit I ever bought.
Would not like to dive without one now.
They are much more comfortable for a long spearing session, saves the back and gives a good position in the water, that's what I found anyway.

That's an inspiration to make your own. Show us pics! A good scoucer (don't tell Jay) would have pinched one. :blackeye

I have made a few (bicycle inner tube & lead shot) & tried a few others but, I much prefer my omer vest.
Unfortunately they dont make my version anymore but, I still think the multiple pockets that except lead shot is the better option than pieces of solid lead plate Omer Weight Vest M.bardi Camu 3D. Accessories Belts, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive

I just bought the vest & made up my own lead shot bags from the missuses tights!
