I find it interesting that on a fishkeeping forum the same vid has been posted but they all seem to think it is funny where as we find compassion for the unfortunate fish!
How weird is that?
I saw that too. Maybe freediving people can identify with fish more.
It is also almost certainly wild-caught, as I have not heard of any successful breeding of electric eels in captivity. Seems a bit pointless to take an animal out of its natural habitat for that.
On another fishkeeping forum about goldfish, there is so much crap that I don't bother much with it any more. I just feel sorry for the poor fish. There are threads on topics like:
"Why doesn't my goldfish like kiwi fruit?"
"I am a vegan, can my goldfish be vegan too?"
"I got a 2cm fish as a friend for my 20cm goldfish, and Nemo ate his new friend!!! Why?"
And the worst of it is, there seem to be few sensible replies. It just makes me too angry. What I really want to say is:
"Why would a goldfish ever want to eat kiwi fruit, pineapple or carrots? Have you ever seen one climbing a tree and picking fruit, or digging for carrots? And if the fish doesn't want to eat it, it still has to breathe a mixture of fruit juice and food particles, which is unlikely to do much for its health."
"If you want a vegan pet, get a rabbit."
"Why did you think Nemo wanted a much smaller friend of a different species? And since he has learnt that things that are tipped into the tank from above are generally food, his new friend fell into that category."
But if I said those things, I would be the one accused of being rude and heartless.
Makes me appreciate DB!
