Hello guys,

For the past few weeks, I've been experiencing pain in my forehead and nose (frontal sinuses and ethmoid sinuses) during and sometimes after my freediving sessions. I don't have a runny or stuffy nose, no fever, and I haven't been sick in two months. I still think I have chronic sinusitis (in addition to having enlarged turbinates and a deviated septum).

If you have any remedies, tips, or advice for this, I'd love to hear them (going to the doctor would be the best thing to do, but I avoid overdoing it with antibiotics and medical appointments).

Thank you for your advises.

Yes, I would recommend going to your GP. Sinusitis can be an early symptom of something more serious and so best not ignored. Any sign of nasal polyps?

There are a lot of colds, runny noses and related headaches going around here currently. Perhaps something to do with Summer ending and/or schools going back?

BTW I take aspirin, ibuprofen or, more rarely, naproxen sodium to reduce aches from inflammation (although less now than in the past). It usually works well for me but it is not safe for everyone, it turns out my wife is highly allergic to such NSAIDs - requiring ambulances and a hospital stay in critical care! :(
In the UK paracetamol and in the USA Tylenol is usually recommended as much safer for most people - but I find it less effective for some things (e.g. muscle soreness or inflamed tissue). So best consult a knowledgeable doctor. And if they say no need antibiotics - please take them. Stay on top of it;)

Hello everyone,

I'm contacting you again because the problem persists. I had a sinus scan and was diagnosed with: Left frontal sinusitis with obstruction of the ipsilateral frontal recess.
Deviated nasal septum to the left with slight overall mucosal hypertrophy.

Basically, the drainage channel (recess) is blocked due to inflammation of the mucosa, preventing mucus from draining.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I was prescribed antibiotics (amoxicillin) and a nasal spray (Fixorinox). If it doesn't improve with these, I may have to undergo surgery.

He mentioned two possibilities: either they access the frontal sinus through the nose and clean everything from the inside (modern technique), or they make a small incision in my eyebrow and clean the inside directly (the only drawback: a scar).

I would like to get some advice or hear from people who have had the SAME problem.

I'm looking for alternatives to surgery and other solutions.

I thought I might try Chinese medicine or homeopathy.

Thank you in advance for your replies!

you could try homeopathy, i did found a study of treatment for chronic sinusitis

you'd have to consult with a homeopathic doctor for that though, probably ask for a dilutions that is not too strong so the initial substance does not disappear, so it acts closer to how vaccines introduce the virus in the organism in small/harmless doses to evoke a reaction. homeopathic treatment is somewhat common here in greece so a usual recommendation is start with 1M (not sure what this translates to, maybe 1C) for a capsule and then go to 12C for 30 days or so. this way the placebo effect is avoided. the good thing is that if it doesn't work it doesn't have any side effects. it is a bit like herbal medicine so also close to chinese medicine (but i have no knowledge of that)
but no idea what particular prescription suits you, hence why i suggest consulting
