Saw this place and looked like the ultimate haven for a spearfishing trip on my 4 week holidays and was just wondering if anyone had ever been there or if anyone knows of of any other great tropical locations to go for a spearo/diving trip

yeah sounds pretty decent the average 25 metre vis sounds alot better than the 1-2 metre average vis that im ust to in tasmania
yeah im still planning to go there, theres a fair bit about accomodation and everything at Cocos (Keeling) Islands holidays, travel and tourism. Discover the islands, Discover Paradise. and fish info + locations at http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/docs/pub/CocosLimits/Cocos_rules_english.pdf cant wait for my holidays theres suposed to be some pretty big fish in the lagoon but the yellowfin, dogtooth and wahoo have got my eye. Im just trying to figure out which season is best to go-
Climate
Cocos experiences two main seasons which tend to overlap: the trade wind season from April / May to September / October and the calmer doldrum season from November through to April. Expect higher rainfall during March through to July. January through to August, may also generate the occasional low pressure system (usually between February and April). However these systems do not normally interfere with holiday plans. Rainfall usually visits this sandy atoll in the evenings, bringing glorious sunny days! The average annual rainfall is 2000mm! Temperatures are fairly consistent no matter what the season, remaining around a comfortable 29°C with a minimum evening temperature rarely dropping below 20°C.
Im not to familiar with wet/dry seasons but if you can understand which month it would be best to go in through this info give us a yell. Theres also more info at

CYCLONE SEASON IS OCTOBER TO APRIL
The islands are under the influence of the SE trade winds for most of the year. The winds are strongest in August. During the cyclone season, from December to March the winds are lighter. The islands are rarely affected by tropical storms.
