since im out of my element here, i bought some cod fillets yesterday, that look real good, what are some good cod recipes?

Marwan, dip the fillets in a batter of your choice and deep fry them bad boys until the batter as gone nice and crispy.
Sprinkle with more salt then is probably healthy and-
Enjoy with a heap of cold beer.:):)

Ps no chilli in this one mate.rofl

Thank you kind sir! best wishes to you and the family :)

I concur. Cod goes into beer batter, hot fat and onto a dish with chips. At this time of year, though, I'd think that an ale instead of a pilsner would be the better drink. And you might consider some onion laced cole slaw. Just sayin . . .

Thanks Folks, i fried it and it was really good...i just used bread crumbs and egg wash for the crust, how do you make batter though? preferably without beer? the cod was really good, the taste was somewhere between grouper and bass i would say..so yummy

There are a good number of batter recipes that don't require beer. Heck, even pancake batter will do nicely. However, keep in mind that the alcohol in the beer cooks out completely. I don't know how strict your local mullah is about that but you ought to be safe, theologically. And if not, try a sour milk pancake mix. Hot damn!

Salt and pepper, dill weed and, if you want, a bit of ground anise seed. Once the cod is fried you have several directions to go. As another Italian, I'd probably go with a topping of fried bell peppers and onions, our Scandinavian members might prefer something like the pickle they use with herring (damn, that stuff is good!), south of me it would be put the pieces into fish tacos . . . The fried cod is just the starting place. What kind of Egyptian twist can you come up with?

I've done with tahini in the batter and it's great! Also cod bakes very well. Try baking at 450'F for 12 minutes. Simply squirt with orange (use navel oranges - no pips) and lay thin slices of oranges on top. Serve over safron rice with minutely diced carrot added during the boiling of the rice. Often I'll lay the fillets over 2 mm slices of onion to prevent sticking.

PS if you don't have butter milk to make the batter add 1 tsp of white vinegar to whole milk and it'll do!

Merry Christmas.

tahini is quite common to eat with fish in egypt, you typically add limes, chilli seeds, olive oil to the tahini, i find it a bit heavy though..

Really. I'll keep that in mind. SoCal is so cosmopolitan that I can buy tahini in the local supermarket. This looks like an experiment worth making. I even grow my own limes.
