Spring weather often brings a few days of rough seas then a day or so of calm followed by more rough weather. This can be frustrating as the sea never gets time to clear. This year seems to be different. The visibility is clearing enough in 24 hours to allow spearfishing. To me this means 1 to 2 metres plus of vis.
I'm putting this down to the unusually cold winter killing off some of the plankton so that only silt has to settle out to clear the vis.
What does anyone else think? Anyone noticed this effect?

Now you mention it , I had been thinking the vis has been unusually better of late but thought no more of it. You may have something there. I will ask my friend in SEPA when I next see her....which could be a while as the ball and chain gets put back on on Wednesday. I know mussles cloud up the water a fair bit at times of the year and there are sites dealing with all this but I also know they are hefty subscription sites.
