I think I am going to order a costum made wetsuit from oceanos wetsuits.
It is going to be made of Heiwa Neoprene. The model is the Green abstract camosuit, with Slick interior and 7 mm thickness.
Also I am going to order kneepads, elbowpads, chestpad, attached hood and waist high pants. Price is 299 dollars.

I wonder is this a good choice for cold waters?

I am living in Norway. And the waters her can be very cold some places. And at the coldest down to around 1-2 degrees.

Best regards.
Hoping for answers.

Hi there, 7mm should be sufficient,I would go for long-john trousers if you plan to do alot of winter diving. Get some 7mm socks and three finger gloves. And make shure you're fins can accommodate the thick socks.Where in Norway are you?

Thank you very much for the informative reply

I am going to order 7 mm and 5 mm socks.
Three finger gloves, thanks for the idea. I will buy it.

I am considering to go for long-john trousers. Because I plan to do a lot of winter diving.
But I don't know if it is necessary.

I live in Levanger city in Nord-Trøndelag County.
And I am going to do most of my dives in Trondheimsfjorden.
Also I am going to dive a lot in Osen in Sør-Trøndelag county, because my family has a cabin there.

Cold is a relative thing. Some persons gets cold more easily than others.
This depends on many factors: genetics, fat percentage, training, etc...
I haven't done any diving in Norway, so I don't know how my cold tolerance is.
But let's say for example that I have a normal cold tolerance.

Do you think I need long-john trousers to winter dive in these places? (Trondheimsfjorden, Osen)

Hopes for an answer.

I got both long john and high waist and from october to may im in long-johns,but I get cold fairly easy. I havent done much diving in the trondhjemsfjord, but I would guess youll be expecting water tempratures down towards minus degrees. Midwinter brings limited spearing possibilitys in the fjords, but further out and where there is current there will be fish all year. There is quite a few active spearfishers in Trondheim and Ørlandet. If you are on facebook, there is some groups for spearfishing in your area.

Thanks you so much for the fast replies

Okay then I will definitely order the long john trousers.

I didn't know that it was facebook groups for spearfishing in my area! Thanks, I will check it out.

I have some questions for you sjurba:
I got both long john and high waist and from october to may im in long-johns,but I get cold fairly easy.

Do you use the same wetsuit year round, in all the seasons.
The only thing you are doing is changing pants form long john to high waist?

And it is not getting too hot in the summer season, even on hot summer days?

What material is your wetsuit made of, and how many mm thickness?

Hoping for answer

I've been using a 7mm polosub forzatre smoothskin with long-johns most of the time, but with either high waist 7mm from my old suit or 5mm trousers in the summer months. I have used my old 5mm highwaist in July-august,when the water is nice and warm.

Thanks for the answer

This is very convenient info.

Nice wetsuit by the way! I dont know if the Oceanos wetsuit is so warm as the Polosub. And how my cold resistance is.
Maybe I will buy a 5 or 7 mm high waist to my wetsuit when the summer comes.

The forza-tre suits are actually a little less insulating than a suit in similar thickness due to the higher density of the outer layer.

Okay, really.

I am thinking of to buy a 3 mm sleevless diving vest.
To have on top of the wetsuit for those extra cold days.

But I dont know if it is necessary.

Also I think to have a vest on top of a wetsuit with long johns can get little too stiff.

What is your opinion?

I used to use a 3mm shorty with my 5mm suit in the winter ,before I got myself a proper wintersuit,it's a bit stiff but works if you're desperate in my suit I can stay in for a couple of hours no matter how cold the water is .the cold issue in winter is airtemp more than water, its a fairly fresh experience to change in minus ten and wind. :-D

Hehe I can imagine that yes.

So you have no use for the 3 mm shorty now.
Then I will not purchase any 3 mm sleeveless vest, and assume that the 7 mm wetsuit is enough.
