Coldest winter in 20 years in the US so much for global warming

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
On a lighter note :) I was listening to a lecture on natural selection and fossil genes, :)
and the speaker made note that the ozone holes are on the mend. :):) Seee we can affect some good change. Also clean coal technologies seem to be coming along. Remember all those nasty nox,s and such its getting better!

Lastly I have led a few river way cleanups years ago. Well for what it is worth I do see a reduction in the trash. I feel the young we have trained have grown up with some good values.

That's why it's being called "climate change" now, lol. I wish global warming was factual, I wouldn't mind catching wsb and lobster up here.:)

fat people cause global warming(more food requires more oil to produce it and transport it, fat people need suv's. fat people are sedentary so they use electronics for entertainments instead of exercising. they consume more medication which also requires lots of energy to produce.

Fondueset, I Apologise if my post seemed targeted at you, personally. And thank you for clarifying the intention of your post. (Wow, I didn't know I was that touchy:hmm)

What I was (ineptly) trying to do was shift from discussing the cause, which is apparenlty an endlessly circular argument, to solutions. (IMHO) One of the greatest stumbling blocks to progress (other than congress), is an inability to cooperate amongst interested parties.

Though picking up other's trash is simplistic, and obviously not a complete solution, I must say that it does help in the local sense, the beach (river, lake, etc.) is noticeably cleaner (especially when done in a large group, such as Surfrider and other group's clean up efforts), and this also raises public awareness, which is dismally low in Los Angeles, despite all of the patchouli doused neo-hippies in the area (no offense to patchouli doused neo-hippies intended). The local surfers at my beach have been pressuring our Lifeguards and Park Rangers to begin to writing littering tickets (at USD $1000 per violation). Since my local beach is a state beach, our success would affect all of California. This would seriously curtail the rampant littering problems in California's State Park System.

Granted, beach cleanups, and steep littering fines do not address Global Worming directly. But, the overall hope is that in making small gains and raising awareness among larger segments of our local communities, we will begin to eliminate the causes - before we eliminate ourselves.

Though they are not perfect, Surfrider Foundation is a great example of a grassroots organization that works towards forcing a change for the better. Along with the coastal clean up get togethers they organize, they are also responsible for the largest environment based fine and change of practice lawsuit in the U.S.:

1998 -- L-P (owning a paper mill in Humbolt, California) pleaded guilty to fraud and environmental charges in federal court and agreed to pay $37 million in fines and other costs, including $5.5 million for violations of the federal Clean Air Act, the largest fine in U.S. history.

North Coast Journal - JULY 1998: COVER STORY SIDEBAR

They were also required to change over to non-chlorine methods.

More seriously, T2K neglected to point out that these same people also produce more greenhouse gasses (methane) than the average human, only a little bit less than their bovine food source.;)

This is true, however our obese friends also lock up more carbon in their fatty tissues than a skinny person like me.It seems their carbon budget is a bit better than mine..damnit! I really do try though, but just can't put on weight..too active i guess

Well then, there is a simple solution....

Don't fart! Then your "greenhouse gases" stay trapped!

rofl rofl rofl

Haha, Okay easy enough solution. just keep me the hell away from naked flames, you never no when i might pop?plus all that extra air will play havoc with my buoyancy control.

That's very true! I blue a huge off off a couple of years or so ago after a night on the beer and a good curry. The thing got trapped in my legs when I dived and I had all sorts of problems getting sorted out. With gloves and socks on the only way out was to vent it through my hood! Remember that was a curry fart rofl never again rofl

Pirates & Spaghetti Monsters - suddenly it all makes sense! You even have the graphs, statistics & artifacts*, so it must be true.

The UK had the most snow its had for 18 years and Feb. temps. were average (cold start, warm end). There is talk of another cold spell to come. It peed down with rain most of Summer 2007 and pretty much all of Summer 2008. (A colleague predicted this in 2007 after reading some Scandinavian research). Are the wheels starting to fall off the bandwagon?

I agree global warming isn't true because when i woke up this morning there was ice on my car and it was cold. There is no way the earth can be heating up if the things that are supposedly making it heat up have ice on them!!!!!
This proves that it is all junk science!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I am joking BTW)
