Good day.

I grew up in Florida but didn't start diving until I joined the USMC. I earned my OWC in North Carolina and loved diving the local wrecks and doing a little spearfishing. I also went diving in a handful of the springs in N. Florida. That was back in 1987/88. Life happened, I got married, had kids, moved away...

The bug bit me again and I want to start freediving/spearfishing. I live in Idaho -- so not much activity here. But, I plan to move back to Florida next year. I am working on my CO2 tables now and trying to increase my breath-hold. I might also get back into SCUBA but the budget is tight so I will start with freediving.

I look forward to learning from all of you and getting to know more and more of you.

Safe diving!

John

Florida, that's something look forward to :) I met an old chap at the weekend who recently moved back to to GB having lived in Spain for the last 17 years. The weather here in England has been exceptionally good and hot this September, so far, even so, he is feeling the cold with only a very long, cold, grey, wet, social distancing winter to look forward to :(. Christmas with his grandchildren though.

There are a number of marines on the forum, and staff. Current and former, US and Royal. Anyone would think they haven't had enough of the sea!

If you get into spearfishing, snorkelling and freediving, you might find you don't need to bother with all the costly encumbrances of SCUBA. It can be quite liberating. I was surprised to find myself spearfishing underneath SCUBA divers on more than one occasion and alongside them on another. I try to stay well away but perhaps the diver flag on my float draws them in?

Thanks for the warm welcome! Glad to hear of your good weather. I lived in the UK from 1992 - 1995 and I don't remember a lot of good weather -- but I loved living there! See you around!

:D Sounds right. I was living in the USA at that time! New Orleans was the closest I got to Florida. There is so much to see in the USA.

When you get to Florida, let me know. I'm in Sarasota, freedive the Central Florida springs in winter.
