Competition Lanyards

Hi all,

Who makes a good lanyard these days? My old one is, well old (6 years) and is 1m which is fine but want a little more for no-fins. I bought a Breathology one which is well made but way too bulky.

I'm after something that is nice and small around the wrist/ankle attachement (ie. no big neoprene padded thing). Does anyone know what options are available?

You might want to add carabiner type to the list of requirement: Aluminium or stainless steel?

Aluminium will stay behind you and stainless will sink ahead of you. This makes a big difference depending on the diver/discipline.

Also maybe add what you want in terms of quick release.

I've always had aluminium carabiners and don't really have any issues with them. The carabiner on my 1m lanyard tends to keep up with me with CWT and CNF so it's not an issue but the Breathology one tends to go slow - I think that's partly to do with the stiffness of the cable. Breathology are well made but more of a recreational lanyard, for teaching and whatnot. And I am a pretty quick diver as a general rule.

In terms of a quick release i've always been happy with the standard stainless boating quick release that's used on most lanyards. Velcro is fine too - my only issue is when they use thick neoprene on the wrist strap, I need something a bit thinner/smaller.
