Compressor AM BRISTOL Cornelius

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I took the unit to a compressor shop and they ran it on 220 3 phase.
1st attempt revealed a continuous leak from the Auto drain and a failure of the Timer switch to de-activate the drain.
A cap was installed in lieu of running the line through the auto-drain. The second attempt was successful and resulted in the unit running up to 2200 on the gage. The gage acted strange because it slowly went to about 900 then hesitated for a couple of seconds before moving fast to 1700 the gage ran to 2200 and then the unit auto shut-down. Two hours later the gage still reads 1800 so there is little leaking. The caps I installed were not that tight either.
So the compressor shop guys said they thought it sounded good it seems the Pressure switch is fixed at 2200. I will need a second gage to validate this. It appears that the auto-drain was the culprit for removal. This is typical of Army mechanics. “If it breaks, swap the whole assembly out, stick it in the back of the warehouse and we will use it for parts or return it to supply”
So my next moves are:
1) Contact Onan generators to see if my Model 8.0kW MDKD-3CR\26501B oat generator can provide me with 220 single phase power.
2) Get a 2 hp 3450 RPM 220 motor that will fit the space and configuration.
a. Install it
3) Diagnose & Fix the auto drain.
4) Test pressure again Get and install a 3200psi switch
5) Add filtration
6) Test

Re: Compressor Cornelius Model 130R1400

Hello to the H20 World, I have a Cornelius Model 130R1400. 3 stage tank compressor, powered by a 2 cycle, 2 stroke, 2 cylinder horizontal Power Products motor. Anyone have a clue when it was made or any info available ?I'd like to know anything about it. If it's worth the work I'll get back in running condition. It seems to be in good condition. Anything will be appreciated.
Thanks, sunstroke@email.com

I would not recommend it for breathing air compressors.

Re: Compressor Cornelius Model 130R1400

Isn't it a vertical shaft 2 cycle engine?? If so I may have the instruction manual on it. I'll check my files. Do you have a picture of it?

Ron

Re: Compressor Cornelius Model 130R1400

Hi Ron,

We still not received a response from Jim for his cornelius pictures yet, I know there still have a certain number of Cornelius 130R series HPA compressors alive now, but just lack of this series stuff instruction manual as a reference.

Do you have found it from your files ?

Peter

Re: Compressor Cornelius 130R1400 Instructions

I checked my files. The only Cornelius Instructions I have are for a 32-R-1505 which is a 0.6 CFM 3-stage compressor driven by a 1-1/2 HP 2-cycle vertical shaft gas engine.

It is not the big unit driven by a large 4 cycle gas engine you have.

Sorry.

Ron

Re: Compressor Cornelius 130R1400 Instructions

Ron,

I beleive the mechanical structure of the Cornelius 32R sereis compressor head is very similar to the 130R series except they are different in size, therefore the 32R series instruction still can be bring some helps for 130R head owner.

How big the 32-R-1505 file ? can you offer it for sharing ? Thanks!

Peter

Re: Cornelius 32-R-1505 Instructions

The manual is 5-6 pages and covers the electric motor unit as well. I don't know if I can attach a scanned copy or not to this site. Can it be done? If not I will be happy to send you a copy.

I agree is is pretty straight forward.

Thanks,
Ron
