In Miami...

Dove once, warmmmm water finally :) , but poor vis off the Tuttle causeway, tested submersed acoustic clicking & backfloat humming... climbed a coconut palm straight up... 1/2 way till the belt started sliding down the trunk, ouch ouch ouch on the bare sunburned legs already stung by fire ants, the brown recluse spider bite on the left hand healed up nicely after an hour in salt water as did the gash on the right hand forefinger... backpack stolen :crutch

Interesting journey so far, just left Nor Cals' winter rainy season to arrive at Floridas' unexpected summer rainy season, no trace of BP oil slick in Miami...

Conch fritters... sounds good, haven't had them since I was in Japan, looking forward to it.

Female dive partner sought, casually. Still adrift on details & directions, looking at starting a low-key dive-diet clinic, non-comp. ~

When I went to marine biology camp they told us that conch was way overfished, and on the brink of extinction...

Oh ok. Maybe that info is out of date. I went there 10 years ago after all.

Email me, let's hang out.

You always seem to get online when I'm not around :/

Next time hit the buzz button (in case I'm just in the other room).

Ok, where's the buzz button?
and
when I click the DB Yahoo messenger button above (next to the research button), nothing happens. I have to connect it through your member profile page, obviously not the normal way to initiate Y IM, maybe that's why the history isn't working.

there should be a no take reg. on conch in florida. in the bahamas you can still dive for them, and take the reg. limit.

Shrimp, oysters, seaweed are cultivated in mariculture, are conch?

Walked the Venetian causeway to Miami Beach, couldn't find any dive spots. Seems like only boat diving around Miami, at least out til 163rd street.

Anyone know of any shore diving areas nearby with decent vis? Seeking a blue water lagoon, mild current, no boats, female diving partner, not too far from Miami metro. Key Biscayne state park?

Conch has been heavily depleted off Florida and the Bahamas. Harvesting is prohibited in Florida and by non-Bahamians in the Bahamas.

When you buy conch in Florida, there is a very good chance it was grown at the mariculture operation in the Turks & Caicos.

Two best places that come to mind for conch fritters (farm grown), Ernies Booze and BBQ in Ft. Lauderdale and Louies Backyard in Key West. No assurance on female diving partners but the food is reliable at these spots!

Boo...my mom disconnected my internet. So I won't be on messenger as much. (Using subway wi-fi now.)

We can still communicate here though.
