If you look at the chart, you see the average dive times at CNF are indeed 25% longer than at DNF. However, that`s the wrong interpretation of the data. As I wrote, we are comparing apples and oranges here, so we have to be careful - clearly the group at DNF does not have the same level as the group at CNF. Then the results are also influenced by limits given by equalizing problems at depth disciplines. But if you ignore the aspect of the depth, and compare the average distances, you see that they also differ by a very similar margin (19%). From this you can conclude that there is not much difference between DNF and CNF from the point of view of the dive time, and freedivers are limited in both disciplines by about the same duration of the dive (not speaking about the depth, of course).
