Hi All,

Firstly apologies I know there is lots of information out there about statics and contractions but after trawling through loads of threads I still have not found the answer. The question has been raised but never answered, one quote I did read about what "I'm doing" was from EFattah who said it was a way of getting rid of contractions.

OK to my point, I along with many others don't really like statics but I see it as a means to an end. I have recently started static training with the introduction of packing. Uusally after a 3min BU my first contraction starts about 3.10 going up to 3.50 - 4min for my 3rd and last hold. I never used to experience contractions but I guess the more I trained the more my body woke up to the new experience. My issue is I don't think I am handling the contractions correctly. When I get my first one I have to hold my nose to stop me from breathing out, from then on I kind of do a fake inhale / exhale (If that makes sense) I have my nose pinched closed and breath out against it and then suck back in the air. EG doing the breathing motion without losing any air. I can usually do this for about 1.30mins. I understand it's the build up of CO2 that my body is trying to exhale.

Can someone please take the time to tell me am I dealing with contractions in the wrong way? From what I have been reading it should be really a diaphramatic motion and nothing to do with blowing air against my nose.

Many thanks
Rory

that's a good way to deal with them as long as water doesn't enter your lungs your fine.
