Just tossing this out there to see if anyone has any similar experiences or advice.

About a month ago I was noticing a progressively worsening dull ache in my stomach, in the center of my torso, just below my ribcage. After seeing the doctor, she suggested that it was likely stomach acid buildup causing the pain, and gave me some acid reducing meds.

While the pain was occuring, I was also doing some static training. When I do statics my contractions are pretty strong and frequent. I've since stopped doing static training, and my stomach has improved somewhat.

Is it possible that these strong contractions would aggravate the stomach situation? Anyone here freedive with stomach problems, or have similar stories?

I sometimes get heartburn after a long series of static training...It seems to be worse if I violate my "no eating at least 3 hours before" rule. My guess is that it's simply acid reflux.

Doing statics a few days in a row also messes up my digestion. I'll spare you the details, but I could imagine getting a stomach ache if it get's severe enough for long enough. I've always imagined this has to do with the body being acidic for too long.

I think I've somehow pulled or stretched the diaphragm once or twice with heavy contractions. It feels sore for a few days.

But none of these sound like they fit with what you're describing too well...

You might want to try relaxing through the contractions. it takes work, but is possible. Let them run through you without fighting them. In the long run it saves a lot of energy and wear and tear. At the same time, I admit I'm often not able to ignore the intensity of the contractions, so it os a goal, not a given
Howard.

I think there are two different issues here. One is the increase in acidy from increase levels of CO2. The other is stomach muscle, maybe diaphragm strain.

I’m not suggesting you do this, but over a few years I have developed into this procedure. After every static session I take an anti-oxidant and a capsule of baking soda. I know it’s kind of shocking, but it has alleviated many physical problems I was experiencing from breathhold training.
