Hi all, long time no speak. You may remember, a while back, I said I was really dissapointed with my SEAC (what a load of CRAP!) Pnumatic Gun, & that I thought I would convert it to a Band gun, as it does have a very good triger mech. Well, at least one of you, thought that I was "wasting" my time, but here it is. Enjoy..... Geoff. PS...... The "Barrel" is the original internal one of the Gun, I simply machined a slot along it, after I inserted a plastic tube (to reduce the internel diameter, so as to take a 6.5 mm shaft). Also, I had to weld a "fin" onto the end of the spear shaft,( which protrudes up, through this slot) to take the "Wish bone" of the bands. Any question's, feel free to ask.

what a loony project Geoff 10 out of 10 for that!!!
The spearfishing community needs more of your spirited ways! how does she shoot?

Hi azapa, & thank's. It shoot's fine. It does'nt have any real "Power" as the band's are short, but in amongst the rock's, it's great!. Also, because of it's "Slim profile", it's easy to manouver.

How long was the original gun? Why was you dissapointed? Low speed of the shaft or ... ? Was the diameter of the shaft 8 mm? Your project is really interesting. But if the problem was only the low speed of the shaft it would be better just to change the shaft for 7 mm shaft and convert the gun to vacuum barrel: tomba, mamba, tovarich... You would be mutch more satisfied with the power of the gun.

Hi tromic, The gun was an asso, the longest they make, (over a meter). I was very disappointed with it. The spear shaft, was CRAP!, being ordinary 8mm mild steel, it was always bending!. Also, the speed of it was very slow, even though I charged the gun to 24 bar, I could easily see the shaft fire, it was like watching it, in "Slow Motion". I actually injured my self, with the force that I needed to use to load it, I strained the muscle's in my shoulder, this was very painful, & took over six month's to heal, during which time, I could not use the gun. So I decided to "go back" to a "band" gun. This, taking two arm's to load, is much easier on my shoulder, (I'm still am not 100% fit). Yes, I appreciate I could have converted it to a "Mamba" system, but this would have cost (what with postage, etc) about 150 €, I rather buy a decent band gun for a few euros more. This "Conversion" works very well, the "Asso" has a very good "Trigger" mech, & the "Hand grip" (after I remodeled it) is very comfortable. I think the problem with the "Asso" is that it uses a 13 mm, inside diameter, barrel, which takes too much force to load, the 11mm dia, used by "Mare's", on their "Cyrano" is better. Also, you can charge it to 30 bar, which makes it a whole lot faster! I honestly could not recommend this "Asso", it is well made, but just not "Fast" enough. any other comment's are wellcome...Geoff.

I had very similar experience with my first pneumatic gun, so I understand you very good. That is why I made the air gun easy loader and the tomba. Look at the last tomba post. I wasn't also very happy with my Cyrano. That is way I now use 6,5 mm shaft instead of 7 mm and tomba. Now that gun shots how I like it. You could not trace the shaft with your eyes. With vacuum barrel system and ligter shaft doesn't matter if you have 13 mm barrel and you need less bars in the gun for the same power.

Hey Tromic,
I was just thinking - did you load the cyrano out of the water when it was standard? I would think that if you took it out of the water, then loaded it, there would be basically zero water in the barrel and then you stick the tip of the barrel in the water and fire - the barrrel isn't fully submersed so it isn't actually having to push out water like a "wet" barrel system, it is pretty much acting like a dry barrel system?
I can't actually tell if this is true from the video as I can't see if you have just put the tip of the gun in the water, or the whole thing. :blackeye
Cheers bud,
Cam
PS I'm going to buy a hydropneumatic :martial

Cammo, you were right. I was loading it out of water, but I let water in before fire. Well, not quite same like loading under water but very close to it.
Put some pictures of the new gun when you get it.
