Took the boat out for a solo trip on Friday morning. I got in the water as the sun was coming up, hoping for a gilthead. No luck on that front, but I did see two big bass. I stuffed up on the first (larger!) one, but a full range shot with the Gabbiano 120 brought the second one home with me. 10lb on the dot

I thought we were the only ones that got up in the dark to go fishing :) Nice Bass! (shame about the legs) Wasnt that a song?

Nice though it is, I'm not sure that its the Bass that Dave is really trying to show off there - I reckon he saw Portfinder's shirt on the Gurnsey thread and didn't want to be outdone! Peacocks!

Now that's a proper fish Dave. Can you find fish like that shore diving in Cornwall? Seen a few biguns at Budleigh here in Devon but not like that!

I'm still thinking of a larger gun, about 100cm or so for clear water, at some point. Was thinking either a larger Gabbiano (coz I lke the 75cm version) or the Albatross for a quieter shot.

Can't wait for my wetsuit, just feel warmer in my surf suit at the moment just knowing its coming :) .

Cheers

For shore diving in Devon, I'd recommend a 90 as a second gun. It has quite a bit more range than a 75 without being unwieldy. I only ever use the 120 for boat dives at particular spots.
I have seen bigger fish than the one in the picture shore diving in Devon

I have students getting bigger fish! Well almost..! First dive and Robert hits a Guilthead bream ( 5-6lbs ) Third dive hits a Big bass ( Ok so mabey it was only 6-7lbs ) Portland is looking good at the mo.
