The bass fishing has been very patchy in Cornwall so far this season, but here is a pollack of just over 10lbs taken on an offshore pinnacle earlier in the year

No luck off Pentire or Goose Rock this past weekend either. Only two small bass were sighted....just plain empty. However, on the mullet front....we went in at off the beach at north Crantock and were literally surrounded by hundreds of them almost bait balling us! Such a nice sight, but no camera...murphy's law. Also enjoyed seeing lots of colourful shrimp and small fry hiding inside the estuary in little eddy's.

Regards

Nice fish Dave :p

Could be the neap tides - they were very small at the weekend - I have noticed round here that neap tides are bad for bass. Has anyone else noticed this around thier neck of the woods? Have managed to find a couple in deeper water and in rips though.

Some areas definately fish better on a big tide, but then my fishiest dive so far this year was on a small neap, big schools of 5lb+ bass just hanging in a series of gullies.
I think long periods of settled weather result in a lack of food inshore, so the bass move out into deeper water, then come back in after a bit of a blow when everything has been stirred up again
cheers
