Could Redheads Last Longer Without Blacking Out?

Redheads Require More Anesthesia « Broken Secrets

"It seems ridiculous to say out loud, but the fact of the matter is that studies have proven that redheads actually require more anesthesia than blondes, brunettes etc. In 2004 a study was published in Anesthesiology that found that up to 20% more anesthetic was needed to achieve the same result in redheads that had been achieved in the blondes and brunettes taking part in the study."

So thinking about this in Freediving terms, do you reckon it would be possible for red heads to not pass out (black out) as other coloured hair people?

Pure theory but a nice thought none the less

hah. My father was a doctor and I have two red headed siblings....but Dad always said, "red heads are different".
I have red hair in my chin hairs but I don't dive worth a s**t. haha.
 
It could be another checkbox on ivo's ranking website

I think it would be very hard to test and know. Also the freediving itself is done before blacking out.

But maybe redheads find it more easily to deal with the various narcotic effects of the deep? N2-CO2.

To contradict myself here, maybe one could test the CO2 tolerance redheads have compare it to others?
 
Well, higher resistance to anesthesia does not tell much about resistance against hypoxia, but Kars is right it should show up in the tolerance against N2/CO2 narcosis.
 
A redhead walks into a doctors office complaining of terrible pain. "Doctor you have to help me, my whole body hurts!" she cries. The doctor calmly asked her to describe her pain. She touches her shoulder and winces in pain. Touches her hip and cries out. "It hurts here!" Touches her forehead and screams out loud. After a couple of minutes she breaks into tears. "This pain is unbearable. Everywhere I touch just hurts soo bad." The doctor ponders for a second and says to the young woman. "You really aren't a redhead are you?" "Why no I'm not" she says. "I dyed my hair last week, I'm really a blonde. Why do you ask?" The doctor smiles and says" You have a broken finger."

Somewhere out there in an underground guarded bunker there is a locked safe with a laminated sheet entitled "Things BennyB can never know". This little fact has to be at the top of that list
