Hello,

I’m converting a Predathor Plus 85 with a Vuoto dry muzzle. I don’t really NEED to convert the Predathor PLUS I just like messing with my equipment and it’s my first pneumatic so I thought it would be good to learn more about it.

But, I see 3 different muzzle options.

https://www.spearfishingworld.com/salvimar-vuoto-dry-speargun-muzzle.html

2 options for an 11mm barrel and 1 option for a 13mm. Anyone know which to order?

Do I need to order a different shaft? Will another maker’s shafts work? I didn’t realize Salvimar parts would be so scarce in the US.

I appreciate any help

You need the one for the 13 mm barrel, which is what the Predathor is equipped with. A stainless steel spear is preferable, and the best are the precipitation hardened ones or spring stainless which have a dark bronze colour.

Thank you. I see there is a range of shafts 7mm 7.5 and 8mm in the salvimar catalog you posted. Will the barrel seal regardless of diameter? Can I use 8mm in this setup?

The Salvimar guns use the same vacuum cuff or seal for all shaft diameters. The muzzle on the Spearfishing World website is for 8 mm and a 13 mm inner barrel. You can use different size shafts, but will need stop rings that centralize in the muzzle recess which aligns the shaft on the central axis of the inner barrel when the gun is cocked.

For 8mm shafts you also need to pick up another Vuoto shock absorber with a larger inner bore to allow the bigger tail end to pass through. It’s in the catalogue so you can find the part number of it there.
The slide rings on the shafts which will center the shaft in the muzzle should have the same outer diameter across various shaft thicknesses, I think. I feel like they do in sigalsub’s offerings but away from my gear so can’t very this for you.

The 8 mm muzzle offered should already have the bigger bore shock absorber, the store only sells 3 variations.

Ah, right on. Never saw that option before. Maybe just the shop packaging them like this as, unless it’s changed, Salvi just sold them according to barrel size and shipped with the smaller shock absorber. This is smarter though.
