what happened with the CW? Don't understand the scores....

Sea conditions were rough, and the fire authorities cancelled the constant weight mid-afternoon. So Greg decided the fairest thing to do would be to award points for the athlete for the competition, but not as AIDA ranking performances. The points were announced performance minus 5 points ( the average deduction for all preceding athletes who did dive ).

What I meant was ' the fairest thing to do would be to award points for the athletes who weren't able to dive because of the cancellation'.

so half of the freedivers did constant and the other half didn't. So to still give points for all, the other half who didn't (couldn't) do constant weight, they got points based on their announced performance minus 5 points?

Well, I don't know if this comp was announced as an AIDA ranking comp and that there were official aida judges on site. But if something like this happens, then it's pretty simple. No points for no one. Even if only the freediver of the list couldn't dive for the bad weather. Would be very strange to see these points in the official aida ranking list...

I guess the organizer had to find a solution, and if all freedivers agrees to it, then no problem for the result of the comp. But not for the ranking list.

I can't see any result, in the results page (both english and french version)

Is this an opinion or an AIDA rule? It makes more sense to me that the freedivers who complete their dive get a ranking. Making something unfair for everybody doesn't equal making it fair. Easy for me to say as I completed my dive, but I would say the same if I had been cancelled.

( Also it wasn't half the dives. The majority of athletes did complete their performances. )

here a small article Coupe Des Calanques 2007 | Shark Freediving
I lost the big article I wrote about it, and I don't have the energy to write it again.
What maybe is interesting to see is the link to my own generated result list of the comp here Google Docs & Spreadsheets - marseille2007
Some more info then the original result list.

Anyone reading this who competed at that comp and feels the urge to write a small article about it? Contact me and I will publish it on my site.
