I am really wanting to get into spearfishing and am going to be taking some trips this next year where I could try to learn and get a start. Hawaii is the main place I will be traveling. I would like to be able to travel with my speargun without checking it separate. I am wondering if you can dismount the handle from the barrel of a cressi comanche. This way I could put the barrel in a tube with my poles and the handle in my bag. I am hoping someone might be able to give me some info. Thanks for any info.

it is doable and as long as travelling with a speargun is legal in your country i dont think it should be a problem, in some countries that dont allow it, i would not recommend this as it could be misunderstood as a deliberate act of trying to do smeting wrong, but what you say seems fine...in terms of how you do it:
1- you will need to unscrew he 2 little screws on the rear of the gun just in front of the handle (the ones that hold the little plastic line holders with the crocodile teeth in place)
2 - push the sleeve with the iline guide forward, exposing the metal pin, holding the handle to the barrel..
3 - get a very thin screwdriver and gently hammer the pin out
4- pull the handle out (the handle could be a bit sticky to the barrel still), try hammering gently (but wrap with a towel to avoid damage) or leave in hot water a bit to make it easier..

Thank you Marwan! I appreciate the info. I will give this a try and it seems it should work perfect for my travel. I will make sure it is legal in the US but I am pretty sure it is. Thank you again for taking the time to answer. Much appreciated

where do you hunt in Ohio?the lakes i assume, i visited once, in Toledo, not sure where you are though..any good fish there, i know there are some wrecks in the lakes
