As I have accepted the water is too cold for hunting preparing all my kit for next season. My Comanche 90 is 3 years old. Pleased with the gun and have a set of new Cressi rubbers.

I want to get some spare spears for the 90 + also a 75 length gun for hunting by caves and in the rock gullies on the reefs as the 90 is slow to turn.

1) Spears for the comanche. I'd like a Trident head as an alternative and a spare standard single flopper. Anyone know where I can get these mail order to the UK? Are anyother spears compatable with this guns trigger mechanism other than Cressi?

2) If I get a 75 comanche will all the parts be changable with the 90? / or will spear length etc be different for each. I like the idea of being able to change parts between the two guns.

Alternatly I have the option to replace the Comanche with 2 new guns (a 75 and 90). The comanche was bought as a 1st gun to check I was going to enjoy the sport! Generally happy with the gun, although find the trigger mech is sometimes difficult to load if the gun has been left (even with rinsing in fresh water etc). I get out most weeks during the summer so I am prepared to invest in better equipment now.

any ideas Thanks.

1) any spear of any brand is compatible with the comanche mechanism (if not perfect, you can scratch its tail with an iron file). Not so for the rubbers: for instance, omer rubbers don't fit well in comanche muzzle. For trident you must buy a threaded shaft, to fit the trident into it. But it's not a good idea on a 90cm gun: trident means a loss of accuracy, especially on such a long gun. If you want, try a trident on the 75 gun
2) no, rubbers and shaft for the 75 don't fit well on the 90: many guys use bands and shafts shorter or longer than the stock ones, but in this case the difference of size is too much.

Pav go to www.portlandoceaneering.com and look at the spearfishing shop.I have a cressi 75cm which i have just put G20 rubbers on which i purchased from Ben and Ade.I know quite a few other Dorset spearo's have also purchased cressi comanche guns from them and are very happy with them.Check out the web site, give them a call and if possible make a visit to the shop as they have most bits in stock but most of all good advise.
