I've been leaning towards the Cressi as my first freediving fin but am a little confused about something. There seems to be several different models but only two are on the website. The Gara 2000HF and Gara 3000LD. From what I've been reading around here the 2000 seems to have been discontinued.

I have a catalog that lists the Gara 3000HF. I also thought thought I saw another model somewhere but might be mistaken. How many current Gara models are there? Is the site just a little outdated?

I just bought the Gara 2000 from Austins diving center in Miami within the last month. By the way, they gave me great service.

hi,

hm that is strange, on cresse website there is only 2000HF and 3000LD
normaly there exist 4 models:
Gara 2000 HF / black (hard)
Gara 2000 LD / grey , long distance (soft)
Gara 3000 HF / black, (hard - medium?) good fins i used them for last 2 years.
Gara 3000 LD / dark grey ? Long distance ( soft )

i thought Gara 2000 HF or LD both will be no more produced, as Gara 3000 is new model.

Anyway MKDVR you can decide between 2000HF 3000HF and 3000LD ... which you can still find in internet, even 2000HF. About 2000LD it will be little bit difficult.

How was their fin selection? Either I'll pick mine up here in a couple of weeks or maybe I should wait til I'm down there next month. They seem to cater to freedivers.

MKDVR,

I'd try them first in a pool.

I've used the Garas for 25 years, the first 20 as a dealer, and I love the 2000HFs.
I tried the 3000HF for 6 months but found them too stiff, and switched back. Some people love the 3000HFs, especially if they have tree-trunk-ankles, but the fins don't flex uniformly like the 2000HFs do. I know this is opposite of the catalog hype, but many divers agree, the tapered blade means little compared to that stiff center rib on the 3000HFs.

Ok. Thanks. I'm going to e-mail Austin's and see what I can do about trying some out in a pool.

I dealt with Doug at Austins. They are really beginning to cater to freedivers and I am sure he will do all he can to help you out.

i have 3000HF and i dont find them so stiff ... with a right kick technique they are good fins. For surface swimming they arent so good but i never had a cramp even after 4 hours fundiving + surface swimming. For diving they arent so bad, i like that they dont flex so much.

btw what do you mean with "tree-trunk-ankles" just intrested

Does anyone knows which C4 Falcons are similar in stiffness with Gara 3000HF?
