cressi gara 3000 ld or OMER millenium

People, I need some advice. For the past ten years I've been using my Scubapro Jetfins for everything. From SCUBA to spearfishing. Now that I've notice that people with freediving fins have some advantages when spearfishing, I want some new fins. I have two options for my budget: The Cressi gara 3000 fins (LD or HF) or the OMER millenium fins. I know that you can change the omer fin blade and the Cressi fins are on e full piece, which could be a con or a pro. Please advice me!

They're both decent fins, but the advantage goes to OMER because someday you will want to upgrade the blades.

I'd suggest trying the footpockets. At that level it's a close choice - though Erik is right about the upgrade options.

I'd say: go for those that fit best for Your foot and Your legs (stiffness) Being able to change a blade will only be worth it if the foot pocket actually fits You well.
If You have the opportunity, try each and every one of them on - from buddies or in a shop. Then decide. - I'd like to be able to give You a simpler answer for Your ideal fin, but I think You'll have to mull this over... There are several threads on this topic, so if You do a search You'll find more opinions on this.

Well, I have my scubapro Jetfins, which are like 20 year old (were from my father) but the work better than any other fin I have ever worn. I use 'em for scuba diving, but many people had told me that for the kind of sports I do, I will need spearfishing fins. I've been Scuba diving since 12, and spearfishing since 16 and theese fins had been my partners.
Usually I spend several hours in the water (4 to 6), because I don't have a boat. Therefore I travel long distances, and get very tired after that. Many local spearos have told me that with the same effort I apply to my scuba fins, I can get double or triple the effect with freediving fins. But my budget is a little limited, because I'm a student and the very best for the price that I've seen are OMER and CRESSI.

Long distances? I say forget the hf's
I'd say go with the Millenniums then as they are very comfortable over long periods (I dive similar times with them). Also they offer upgrade-ability for future blades and excellent back up provided by Omer

I have both. My beef with the OMERS is that the "mouth" of the footpockets is like, well, gaping open.. It leads to too much space around the heel. This seems to be their design, and many complain of loose heels with OMERS.

Having said that, I use my omer milenium runners (black) most weekends when my legs are feeling in shape because they are more powerful than the Cressis IMHO. My heel wobbles around a bit though ......

gara 2000 HF are ver good...but for long distance swimming to a dive spot it's a bit hard.
foot pocket fits best for me.

10/10 for the gara 3000. loverly fin. very well made and a nice fit, they are a slimmer pocket though but still very comftable.

I covered a fair amount of ground with them and they werent hard on the legs. will give them a good going this weekend but i put my money on the gara's

I have both the omer milleniums and picasso black teams. Both are very nice fins, but the black team foot pockets are more comfortable to me, as I have a wide foot. Just something else to consider, if you have a wide foot.

Apologies for the novice question, but can you elaborate on this? Are carbon and fiberglass more powerful, easier on the legs, more durable...?

Carbon and glass fins are much lighter and take less effort to physically move around with your legs. They also have a sort of rapid memory (snap). Imagine as you power down with your leg the fin blade bends upwards with the water resistance. With a plastic fin the blade slowly straightens out but a fibre fin will flick itself straight and provide a little extra thrust.

I started with the Picasso Black Teams and love them, they really take a beating because most of my dives are from the shore over coral and they hold us really well. Plus when the plastic blades wear out you can upgrade them.
