Cressi Tecnica Review

Hey guys,
After a few weeks of diving in my new Cressi Tecnica 3.5mm I must say this suit is fantastic! Going from SCUBA suits to this was such a big leap. The first time I put it on I just said "Man, what a suit!". I dive for 2 hours and never get cold, just tired! This suit is built like a champ, SUPER STRETCHY, and most of all, extremely warm! It has this "Blacklite" stuff in it. It is no different then a regular open cell (I compared it to my buddies Picasso). You MUST have lubricant to get it on. I find hair conditioner and water to work like a charm. The camo is pretty sweet. I really like the elbow & knee pads. This suit only comes in long johns. I think this is the perfect suit.

what type of water temps do you typically dive in? Im looking at a new suit and debating on whether or not i should get a 3 or a 5 mil. But a 3.5 mill seems like a good in-between choice...

kwtony, I am diving in 68-72ºF water. I am obviously freediving so warmth is important. Remember, you must have soap and water for this suit. If you buy it, you'll receive it and say "I can get this on no problem without soap" But then you tear the suit (trust me). I dive all day in this suit in 72ºF down to 70-80' (21.6-25meters), and man am I toasty! What waters are you diving in? What are the Winter and Summer temps?

According to NOOA the water temps are Key West FL (starting with jan)
69,70,75,78,82,85,87,87,86,82,76,72. I currently use a 2mm rob allen suit and like it very much. But i could go for something a tad warmer.

Im familiar with lubing a suit to don a suit, and wont make that mistake . Thank you

kwtony, if you go from a 2mm Rob Allen to the 3.5mm Cressi, you would be much warmer. I think that the 3.5mm long john is your best bet. I think the 5mm would be WAY to warm for those water temps. Also, if Rob Allen makes a 3.5mm then you would already know what size fits you. But the price on the Cressi is outstanding as well as the suit itself. Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks for the information so far. The suit wouldn't be used year around and mostly during the winter or on deeper dives... There is the off chance that id travel and need something that might be adequate for even colder waters, but not really a big factor . If i wear the suit 4 months out of the year i would be fine with that. My current 2 mil is doing very well so far, A few people I know wear 5mils and suggested choosing the thinker option, not all are freediving suits and some might be a scuba suit tho...I wanted to get one of the Omer 3d camo suits, they are a tad pricey tho ...was thinking about trying one of the new nautilus suits, but still on the fence of 3 or 5 mil...

If you want the Cressi, 3.5mm all the way!! It's long johns, so 3.5mm on the john and the 3.5mm on the top, that's 7mm for the top part of your body.

The Cressi 3.5mm is well hot, I was worried about taking it to a tropical climate, but lose the overalls and combine the top with a pair of neoprene 2mm Bermudas (e.g. Mares Neoprene Bermuda Camo) and you are golden.
