croatia / east istria

Does anybody know one or two good places on the eastcoast of istria?
I prefer the northern part beginning south of opatija.

I want to get there by car, I have no boat, I need depths of at least 10 meters (up to max 20).

where in opatija or nearby can I get a license?

Tell us the story!!! What depth were they shot? Island or coast? Morn/Eve? ... etc.
 
It was the sunday after the very hot saturday and I was in the water at 5:45. I got into the water near a hotel beach where I suppose not many people hunt.
Coming back at 8:00 I made my last dives very near to the beach (of course in front of rocks). I had already speared the orata. Going down I noticed 3, 4 dentex with big sarago and was very surpirsed. It was only 10 m deep there. But the currents on this day after the small tempest of the day before were very strong and the water, already at 6, 7m became quite cold. I had also seen a branzino then, so it was really an unusual day.
Wainting too long for my capacity I waited for the dentex to come closer, but they didn't come close enough.

Have to watch the baby. To be continued ...
 
sottolegno - I'm still anxious to hear the rest of the story! I do plan on hitting the water at the end of Sept. here.
 
so now I have time to continue the story.

A problem was, that the currents were so strong, that after every dive I had to go back to the rocks, swim back some, 30 meters (I didn't want to cross the good places), rest there and then go out again and dive down with the currents.
At the third attempt, coming down to the ground I saw the dentex again. I pulled myself closer on the stones, not moving my fins and lay down on an edge under the dentex. The made some circles in front of me and I was already becoming angry that they won't get closer again, when one of them began hading directly towards me. I became very excited and did my best to stay calm. He came closer quickly and already within the range of my OMER 90 turned to the rigth. Luckily In hit him. If not, my holidays wouldn't have been nice!

First attempt: I rested on the ground too far away from the dentex! I think the secret is, to come close enough to make them curious and to stay away far enough not to frighten them ...
