no not my curves!

I find that my breathhold capacity varies from week to week... last week i managed 2,33' really easily, and on Friday i couldnt hold my breath for more than a minute!!!

Why is this? What suggestions do you have? Does anyone else experience this curve in timings?

darn it!

I think it's normal Sara. My performance is really affacted by any alcohol, stress, weightlifting, diet, hydration, sleep, etc. As long as in the long run you keep moving forward ;) One thing that helps me a lot is drinking a lot of water at least one day before a PB attempt and eating a light fruit/cereal meal a few hours before hiting the water.

Ok..... just ran through my post to make sure there was nothing dirty that you could bring up rofl

sleep etc.... ?? or lack thereof? ;)

rofl rofl gotcha...

Static performance, especially in the beginning, varies greatly from the factors Merlin already mentioned. You should try not to compare 2 statics that are done under totally different conditions. Instead, try to duplicate the preparation that seemed to work the last time and find out what works and what does not and then compare.

For me, preparing for a "static day" begins already the previous day by drinking lots of water, sleeping well and onto the next day, eating right (not too heavy, no sugar, no coffee) and finally fasting at least 2 hours before the static. Followed by a very routine warmup/breathup.

It is with experience of doing tons of statics and honing the preparation that consistency starts to slowly emerge. But still, with all that training, my statics can vary up to a minute day to day. Something very simple that is bugging you might ruin everything no matter how good the preparation. Stress from work being my favorite.

So what you're describing I would say is perfectly normal.

Personally I haven't found "etc" at all harmful to static...Or lack thereof. Have tried both :) (whatever you might mean by that).
