I asked Polosub a few weeks ago about neoprene types and they said, they don't want to tell which neoprene they use for business reasons, instead they brand everything as "Polosub-neoprene" But they ensured me they take the best neoprene available for the different use cases

I think that sounds like a Chinese neoprene...

Polosub 5mm is INDESTRUCTIBLE. SImple rubber in - nylon out. 3 mm - prepare to change every 2-3 years depending on usage. Pricewise if you compare apples to apples - they are priced the same. To save on shipping - ordfer a bunch of suits together with other people.

No. They use THE BEST neoprene that is hardly collapsible over many dives. They have been using it for many years. Polosub is the best!

I agree, the neoprene is much better than what some of my other wetsuits are made of. It is much more resilient making less creases, better elasticity and much less of a dry foam texture. It is not the cheap stuff that sticks to itself and tears apart.

There is no such thing as a universal neoprene. Soft fluffy stretchy off-the shelf stuff is produced to accommodate various body shapes and comes at most in 7 sizes, usually in 5. For snorkelers it is perfect. For those who dive - it will collapse soon and lose thickness and thermal protection. Rubber for deeper divers is tougher, less stretchy and less collapsible. So the whole point of a custom suit is not only to address your non-standard body shape if you have it but also create a suit that will contour to your body perfectly so it can be made from less stretchy but more resilient rubber. That is why if you have the funds - go for custom. Also look at the knee protectors. On good custom suits it is a real thin 'rubber skin'. On off-the shelf stuff made from Chinese rubber it is painted-on essentially. Flakes away immediately. As far as Elios and Polosub - you can not go wrong with either one. When you order - 10 times verify each measurement. Cheers!
