Hi All,

I picked up a great deal on a 110cm pelaj railgun (I know I've read the good and bad reviews but I got it HELL cheap :) ), but it is too long for my kind of use (inshore reefs, headlands/points, 6-10ft etc...), so I was wondering what length would be the best all round - 75 or 90cm?

Cheers All :)

OR do I keep it at 110 and purchase a cheap shorter 75? Honestly though I cant see myself doing an bluewater work anytime soon....

:D Congratulations. I would have thought 110cm would be quite usable in Oz - where in Oz are you? I'd be inclined to keep it as is.
Cutting the barrel is possible but then you'd need a shorter spear too and you'd need to replace or cut the rubbers down - probably cheaper & simpler to buy a shorter gun too, if that is necessary/useful. I think a 75/110cm might be good combination to own.

I currently have a 75 & 90 but if I were starting again, I might opt for a 95/100/105/110 speargun rather than 90 - because on rare clear days here, a 90 can be too short. That said, I did find my 90 slightly better (more appropriate) for marginally clear conditions in Cornwall last year and in Devon earlier this year but normally I just take the 75 out, it works well and close shots seem to come up far more than distant shots for me in general.

Thanks Mr X I think I'll go with a cheap 75 then :)

Im in Brisbane so I've got access to both Sunshine/Gold Coasts, Northern NSW, Moreton and Stradbroke Island areas etc... heaps of good areas to explore!
