Hay guys, i'v noticed there are no threds on the forum for turns on the rope, i think it is a pritty important part of the dive as if it is done wrong resuts in alot of engery expenditure and loss of relaxation, i'v developed what i see as the most efficent turn :-
1. set my depth alarm for 5m above the bottom plate
2. once it goes of i move into the line and reach the arm with my dive computer down the line. the other arm i reach towards the surface, both hands are gently touching the rope.
3. as soon as my dive computer arm hits the bottom plate i grip the rope with my uppermost hand and let my body sink with the momentum/negitive boyancy
4. i give a good pull on the rope with my uppermost arm and start finning
This method:-
prevents trachia squeeze as you dont need to look for the bottom plate
stops the diver ever going past the bottom plate
ensures the pull on the rope is from the highest legal point on the rope
and is as smooth and effortless as possible (reducing energy expenditure and sudden movements/chance of lung squeeze)
I have just started monfin cwt training and am trying to apply the same technique, i have noticed it is very hard to get started after the turn with a monfin, i'm thinking i might need to waight longer to let my legs sink compleatly. If anyone has any tips for the turn with a monofin i would love to hear them.
I hope the thred helped some people
