Hi everyone,
As the title states, I have a Cyrano 970 that has been in its case for a few years untouched. I am getting ready to revamp it - service and maybe mod it. I'm sure it was washed prior to being put away, but the paint is very sticky. This is the first thing that I have to address. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it possible to get rid of the stickiness with some kind of solvent or will I just have to repaint it? If repainting it, is there a particular type of paint I need to use?

Cheers,
Mark

Yes some of the older ones were prone to this when they got oil on them. I don't think you can fix this and don't try to sand it.

Clean it the best you can and cover it in camo tape.

yeah had the same issue I took it apart and rubbed it with ash and fine sand then boiled it in seawater, it was really dull but not sticky anymore
