I bought a new shaft for my Mares Cyrano gun and was wondering if the shaft adapter on original shaft that came with the gun can be unscrewed. I have tried to unscrew it but its hard to get a good grip on it without scratching it. Has anybody had any luck removing it?

You can warm it up a little with a flame of a lighter.

Thanks, I'll try that tonight. Also, will it be ok to replace the original line retainer with this slide ring?

Spamula. I use the metal spring line keepers as opposed to the plastic POS that broke after my first shot with my mares. Good luck!

If you want my advice then anyone who owns a Pneumatic Speaguns should have a Tomba kit fitted!
(PM Tromic)

The slide ring I pictured is stainless steel so it should last. I've been reading up on the Tomba kit. It just seems a little complicated for me right now, this is my first pneumatic, but plan on trying it out in the future.

Fair comment my fiend, take your time to understand your gun & when you do - fit a free shaft Tomba kit made by our friends Tromic & zmajmr LOL

That is what I use because it is such a simple & well made design but, offers such performance increases.

Had you used both the stainless steel ring and plastic slider (line keeper) when your POS broke? It might broke so fast only if you used it without the steel ring. When you use stainless steel line slide (like Omers microspeed slider) you do not need the steel ring.

This ss slider is very good, much better than stock. I use it all my spearguns. Of course you need to use the shaft alinghment washer witch comes with original shaft. Omer, has washer and slider as one peace, I believe it is 7mm only for Omer airbalete pneumatic speargun but will work with mares cyrano 7 mm shaft.
