Hi everyone, I do at bit of D.I.Y myself, ive got 2 guns one is a 85 and 105, ive modified the 85 with a fly reel underneath, cable tied on, its got cord in the spool and its then joined to 100lbs mono with the help of double crimps, ive resently modified the bigger on with a cheap fly fishing reel also, again cable tied on, but this time its a full spool of darcon cord about 5mm thick, basically bcause i find the shoot more accurate with cord than mono and i get a futher shot, i can shoot a fish at 3.5m distance no problem, but i have 2 say loading the gun can be a pain sometimes if the cord gets trapped in the notch where the wishbone goes, you have to keep your wits about you, you dont want any kinks or chaffed line, where as the mono is easier to menuver underwater, ive also used fly fishing floating line, very good stuff to use but not very good for crimping or for long periods of spearfishing, too brittel, hand most of it floats and it also helps to keep the gun afloat, I modified the gun handle also i packed it with cork and then used a pocksey resen to seal handle to keep it afloat also wen the spear is in the gun, the whole gun flaots now, i think its handy for the small one over caves etc
