Is it straight forward to change the D3 battery? Any risks .. Is it possible to water damage? Thanks.

I had trouble undoing the cover, rounded it off tried melting a new slot screw drivers everything. Then realised I had actually undone it with a coin then it lifts off : (. Make sure you use a penny/2p coin and it should come undone. Do not use screw drivers as these snap the plastic. It only turns a small amount then lifts off. If you do snap the slot you can heat up a screw driver and push it into the plastic to melt a new slot. Then use the penny again.

I replaced the battery brass connector (very thin piece) and the cover all together with a kit off eBay. Works fine now, no leaks or anything. I would recommend replacing the whole lot as its easier, safer and then if you do ruin your old cover at least you have one to replace it with. Videos on YouTube if you get really stuck

Buy a decent battery aswell. Mine resets itself when I use the cheap £1 batteries but works flawlessly when I use a good quality one.
