Dahab

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I do not have to wait to come back...there are plenty of internet cafes around Dahab. Taxi ride one way from Sharm's airport should cost you 150-200 LE (Egyptian pounds , 1 LE= 1 Bristish Pound). They'll start negotiating at 300LE.

I can get you photos of accomodation if you want.

Air day temperature about 26C, night about 21C, sea temperature about 23C (no termocline). Occassionally windy, but nothing too bad. I am using one-piece 5mm, no hood, as I play with my camera most of the time.

I am in contact with Annelie and Fred and hopefully we are off to the Blue Hole tommorow. You might even see them in action if they give me permission to post photos here.

I dive alone almost always. So if I do not drown I'll check board.
Please ask, so I can get you the answers while I am here.

As for Dorothea...Yes, it is possible to jump off the cliffs. I know the person who did it...but one could question his sanity.

It is much easier to negotiate taxi from Dahab than from the airport. You can easily get 150LE from Dahab. Airport taxi drivers are pain in the bottom. It might be an idea that someone sends taxi for you from Dahab.

Hi all,

I planning a visit in Dahab for next year. What would be the best time of year to go there ? Is early Spring okay ?

best wishes
Holger

hi holger,

that depends mainly on what temperatures you are comfortable with. december until march the water temp drops to around 20 celsius and in combination with the usual strong winds and short daylight hours makes for some rather chilly diving. 5mm suit is the minimum. also, you definitely need some jumpers, etc for the afternoons/evenings.

i always recommend april or may, water temp is 22-23 celsius but it's already noticably warmer outside.

if you need more detailed info feel free to pm me.

cheers,

roland

me, Liv, Longfins and Suzysue are going to be in Dahab for New Year, we are pretty well organised for freediving but

WHERE IS THE PARTY????

mmmmm we did plan that last year but then a few beers and sitting around a fire seemed like a better idea - maybe we will be more determined this year!! if there are a lot of us I guess we have more chance of motivating each other!

some freedivers...hahaha

ps: maybe there's some gluehwein after the midnight dive. if you bring some, that is.
