These ROCK. Excellent upper body workout for no-fins. But I think they will rule for underwater photography and possibly spearfishing. They have an excellent gripping surface and are very flexible - perfect for making small corrective movements with minimal movement - if you get my drift. I think they'd be great for scubies too.

I use something similar for body surfing big waves. One of the problems I found with everything I tried was increased drag. The greater surface area gave much better torque, faster acceleration, more efficient moderate speed, but top speed was, if anything, decreased. That drag will be a problem for no fins during the sink phase, I think. How's the drag on these, Fondue?

I knocked a full armstroke off in 25 m first time out. These are totally flexible - so you spread your fingers for thrust, and bring them in for streamline. Plus you can still use your hands. I think there is some drag - mostly because I ordered a little big - so there is some gap at the wrist without a suit - but, based on shaving off an armstroke, it seems the drag is pretty negligible. (I'm doing half lungfull lengths - for neutral buoyancy - so with push-off my normal 25 is 3 kick/arm cycles. With these I drop an armstroke - so far. That said - I'm mainly looking at them for training - and maybe a help for photography and stuff.
